Minimally Invasive Surgery
A stone is a hard mass formed in kidneys, typically consisting of insoluble calcium compounds. Generally, a stone originates in the kidney and gradually passes down to the urinary tract- causing trouble. Kidney stone can cause extreme pain if it passes down to the ureter. Patients of kidney stone may suffer from blood in urine as well. The development of the kidney stone is related to decrease in the volume of urine or an increase of the stone forming substances in the urine. Main causes of kidney stones are as follows: -
  • Reduction in intake of fluid.
  • Dehydration
  • Medication that cause high Uric acid formation.
  • A history of gout.

Stones which are smaller in size and few in number can be treated by drinking a lot of water (in that condition they come out through urine), or medication. But when stones are of considerable size and many in number- are treated by surgery to avoid any complications or its re-occurence in the future. A couple of methods have been invented in recent years for kidney stone treatment. One of the popular methods is: -

During this procedure the doctor makes small incisions (cuts) which are several in number. They are just a few millimeters in almost all cases. A long, thin tube with a miniature camera attached at the end is passed through one of the incisions. Images from the endoscope are projected onto monitors. This lets the doctor know about the size, and position of the stones. The stones are then broken down into prices through laser or other methods and then collected in a small container attached to the tube. This entire process only need you to be in the hospital for a day or two and you can resume your work after 3-4 days.

This method has gained extremely popularity  in recent years due to its various advantages: -
1) There is no hassle as in the case of open surgery.
2) The patient suffers through minimum or sometimes no pain as local or general anesthesia is given to the patients, depending about the condition of the patients.
3) It takes only 4-5 days of your busy life, after that you can resume your work.
If you or anyone you know is suffering from kidney stone then they should go for this procedure only. Minimally Invasive Surgery in Delhi is quite popular. There are a few hospitals where experts of this field are ready to treat any case, to the best of their capability.
